MeltingIt starts with an incredibly delicious image research of soup of tomatoes and grilled cheese.
But beyond that, Jonathan Kaplan a larger plans for its new chain restaurants, melting. Kaplan, founder of the company that created the extinct Flip camera, wants to leave his mark on the industry of fast food with grilled cheese and high-tech gadgets.
Here's how it works: you visit the Web site of melting on your smartphone. You choose a sandwich and soup from the menu, and the site generates a QR code that you can scan at the store, jump to the line and the payment via the telephone.
According to BusinessWeek, the restaurant will also develop location-tracking smartphone apps, so it can begin to prepare your food that you get close. A kiln specialist, developed with the manufacturer of the Swedish Electrolux apparatus, can Grill have a sandwich with cheese perfect in under a minute.
You can laugh at the concept, but Silicon Valley investors of cast iron are not joke. Sequoia Capital invested amount not disclosed in the company, which plans to open 20 restaurants in the San Francisco Bay at a cost of $500,000 to 1 million of $ by location. Celebrity chef Michael Mina is a member of the Board of Directors and with the menu help. Melting aspires to become a national chain of fast-food slightly top of range, a kind of Chipotle.
But the tech gadget will help melt the fate the next large string? I must confess to be intrigued by the concept of order followed by the location. Fear of food cold is one of the reasons I avoid mobile ordering apps (and Chipotle), perhaps then it is the beginning of a revolution in fast food.
However, this does mean nothing unless you have a delicious sandwich. Hope that there is truth in advertising from melting.
