The increase in the cost of living forces Kenyans to alter their diet, a world food survey.
Global Scan Incorporated, an international agency of research, said 79 percent of Kenyans have changed their diets due to increases in food prices.
It is the highest percentage to make such a change in the world.
The survey, sanctioned by Oxfam and published Wednesday, notes that 16 000 interviewees in urban and rural, only 23 for one hundred believe weather changes have infringed food production, leading to a diet low in key markets.
"While 75 per cent of Kenyans eat are no longer the same food that they are two years, only a paltry 4 percent changed their diet because of health problems." About 57% of them said that they have not always enough to eat, "according to the report."
The investigation on the food covered at Kenya, Tanzania, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Spain, UK and the USA.
In the 18 countries, an average of 39 per cent of the interviewees have changed their food because food prices increased.
To the Kenya, some restaurants have reduced the portions served to clients a way to maintain low price and stay in business, while some unscrupulous traders have tampered with the machinery used for weighing food.
Many public servants chose to skip meals in the hotels and carry rather meals packed during lunch hour, prayer meetings are recording an influx of visitors.
Oxfam Executive Director Jeremy Hobbs called leaders, including the g-20 countries, act now and set the price of food so that people in poor countries do not cut back on the quantity and quality of food they consume.
"Our plans change rapidly and for too many people, it is a change for the worse," he said.
